term break dump

so-called term break is really just a weekend. course cards today and the new term starts on monday already so this will be a quick dump.

and here's part of the final requirements for my 3danim1 class - our own version of the xbox 360. this was rushed, so details here and there are missing or wonky, but you know how deadlines are. maya.

the last minute

just quickly dropping by to post my final plate for 2danim class.. the pencils for this were done way back in my frosh years so there's a lot of wonky stuff going on in there, buuut i have other finals to attend to so i have to leave this alone.

the intro/credits audio was the bone and socket lounge music composed by danny elfman for the corpse bride ost, and the main music was a clipped version of gotan project's mi confession. the sound fx were from the freesound project. btw, the audio at the end is a filipino newscast from gma, and it says "classes have been suspended due to heavy rains."

i'm a little short on time right now so i'll edit the credits later. this was such a rush job i even forgot to put my own name in there. crap.

finals

exams after holy week. plenty of time to screw around till then. lol! i'm gonna pay for this i just know it but it's been so long since i posted anything or worked on personal stuff so screw finals.

i recently got my hands on camtasia and decided to give it a shot. here's a quick sketch just to try it out.

and a couple of wips. these WILL be finished i promise! as a matter of fact this summer i plan to go through my wip folder and complete or redo as many as i can. but these three will come first.


and finally a flier for a book we were required to read for natsca2 class (art and environment). the only requirement was that the text should convince our prof that we read the book completely. see? i did work on finals. so i can screw around the rest of the day guilt-free. hah!

meandering

i have amassed a multitude of resources to study, but now they're just collecting dust. i seem to have led myself into the trap of wanting instead of doing - thinking that collecting these helps me improve, when i'm really just putting off the work.

i resolve to put all the stuff i've got to good use. no more collecting until i've used them all up. and i have to minimize browsing art.

today is the last day i waste! tomorrow i redouble my efforts.

the new scanner hasn't arrived yet though, so when i choose to go traditional (which will be often) there won't be any life signs from me.

till then, pizza time! (salamat sa pizza kuya, tonight you're my hero.)

i'm going back to doing master studies. the piece i've decided to study (and by study, i really mean butcher) is caravaggio's sick bacchus. this is as far as i've gotten:


it's been a while since i last did this, so the process has been PAINFUL so far. buuut.. this is one of the best ways to learn how to paint so i'm gonna keep at it. hopefully it gets easier along the way.

i think the months of studying anatomy are finally starting to pay off. i'm slowly becoming more comfortable in drawing the human figure from imagination, although i still have a lot to study. i suppose there's really no end to growth when it comes to art, which is probably what i like so much about it in the first place. it's such a pleasurable torment and it manifests in so many forms.

back to studying more intensely! very self-indulgent work hehe but i was focusing on lines anyway. i'm still working on improving my linework and i'm feeling these much better..
